Volunteer Awards Scheme

We deeply appreciates the enthusiastic support from all volunteers, who have enabled our various activities to proceed smoothly. These include litter picking, park renovations, film festivals, art exhibitions, stand-up paddling, and Hong Kong-UK cultural exchanges. We look forward to continuing these activities in the future and count on your continued support.

To recognise the contributions of our volunteers, we have launched the “Volunteer Certificate Program” with details as follows:

  1. Volunteers will receive an authorized volunteer certificate from Manchester Council for every 10 hours of service (hours served will be indicated), with additional certificates awarded as service hours accumulate.
    • Service hours can be traced back to April 2021 (since the establishment of Hong Kong Volunteers in Manchester).
    • For inquiries regarding service hours, please email [email protected].
  2. The deadline for accumulating hours for certificates is July 31 each year; certificates will be issued accordingly every six months based on recorded hours. To participate in the program, please register here.
  3. To ensure the confidentiality of volunteer information, certificates will be distributed as follows:
    • Mailed to the nearest POST OFFICE.
    • Distributed during future volunteer events.
    • Any other mutually agreed method of delivery.

Message from Our Founder

Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure that I extend a heartfelt welcome to you all to our online volunteering and event registration system.

As the founder of the Hong Kong Cultural Community C.I.C. and Hong Kong Volunteers in Manchester, I am incredibly proud of the journey we have embarked on since our establishment in 2021. What began with community litter-picking has evolved into a wide array of impactful volunteering activities, all led by the dedication and passion of our volunteers. From city greening projects to canal cleaning on paddleboards, elderly home visits and beyond, we have continuously sought creative ways to contribute to our local community.

Expanding beyond community efforts, our wonderful volunteers have delved into cultural activities that celebrate the rich heritage and traditions of Hong Kong, such as supporting our art exhibition, Hong Kong Film Festival UK, Lunar New Year Market, language and cooking exchange programmes, and more. None of these would have been possible without the invaluable support and commitment of our volunteers.

Our new online registration system is designed to improve access to our activities while also serving as a platform to record and recognise the efforts of our volunteers. I encourage you to join our award scheme, which certifies volunteers who contribute 10+ service hours with different levels of recognition and awards.

By joining our team of volunteers, you are not only contributing to meaningful projects and initiatives but also becoming part of a dynamic and supportive community dedicated to creating positive change.

Thank you for choosing to be a part of our journey. Together, let us continue to inspire, empower, and make a difference in the lives of those around us.
